Windows Phone 3.0Anyone who finds themselves in the slightly unusual position of owning a Windows 8 phone along with a Mac should take a look at the newly updated Windows Phone app that allows for syncing and data transfer between devices. Windows Phone 3.0 adds support for Windows Phone 8 devices as well as adding support for working with iPhoto 9.3.2 and Aperture 3.3.2.

As with virtually all Mac apps that have been updated in recent weeks, this version of the app also adds support for Retina Display and when connected to your Mac it is now possible to see the charge state of your phone’s battery. The ability to synchronize photos, music and videos has been enhanced and there is now better support for Ringtone files.

The addition of a drag and drop option to copy and move files between your Mac and your Windows Phone 8 device helps to make the piecemeal transfer of data a great deal easier, and is a helpful supplement to the standard syncing.

The latest release of the app sees the name changing from Windows Phone 7 Connector, and it’s good to see that Microsoft is catering to the Mac market even if this represents a very small percentage of the Windows phone 8 user base.

You can find out more and download a free copy of the app by paying a visit to the Windows Phone for Mac review page.
