Adobe has announced the availability of Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 in what looks like a major overhaul for both packages.

A completely revamped interface based on the Photoshop engine greets you on launch, for instance, with a choice of Quick or Expert editing modes, an action bar, one-click options, bold icons and more: it’s all very crisp and clear.

New effects include Premiere Elements 11’s FilmLooks, Hollywood-style colour treatments which can give your movie the look of an old news reel (for instance) with a quick drag-and-drop.

Adobe's latest releases have a completely redesigned interface and many new effects

The Time Remapping tool provides some quality and easy-to-control fast and slow motion effects (from 8x down to 1/8x).

Photoshop Elements introduces new Guided Effects which try to simplify the process of applying tilt-shift, vignettes and other more advanced options.

New tools to bring order to your media collection include the ability to organise photos by places, people or events, while the Premiere Elements 11 Organizer makes it easy to create albums for your various video projects.

And when your masterpiece is complete then you can now share your photos and videos via Vimeo, as well as Facebook, YouTube and more.

Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 are quality updates, then, being both significantly easier for beginners to use, while also providing plenty of extra power for more experienced users.

Trial versions of both are now available, too, although you’ll need to keep in mind that they’re fairly bulky packages – Premiere Elements requires a 1.1GB download all on its own – so patience will be required.
